Camera or Groceries? A black-necked stork encounter

Black-necked Stork

Camera or groceries? Well… the groceries could wait. 😁

On my way home from work, I passed a pond and had an unexpected Black-necked Stork photography opportunity. I was surprised — and pretty excited — because it’s not something I get to see every day.

There was just one problem: I didn’t have my camera with me. My plan was to get the groceries on the way home, but suddenly I had a decision to make — groceries first, or go home and get the camera?

I decided the groceries could wait. I headed home, grabbed my camera and made my way back, hoping the stork would still be there.

To my relief, it was. 😁 I had enough time to settle in and capture a few photographs while it moved through the wetland, before it eventually decided to move on.

Sometimes the best wildlife encounters are the ones you don’t plan for. I’m glad I chose the camera over the groceries that day. 😁📷
